FACT CHECK: Does This Image Show A Recent Protest Outside Mar-a-Lago?

An image shared on social media purportedly shows a protest outside Mar-a-Lago in response to former President Trump’s indictment.

Verdict: False

The image predates Trump’s indictment in New York. Photos from the actual protests depict a larger demonstration.

Fact Check:

The House of Representatives drafted their first subpoena in the investigation of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Politico reported. Former New York county special assistant district attorney Mark Pomerantz has been called before the Judiciary Committee for a deposition in regards to his role in the investigation of the former president, according to the outlet.

The Twitter post alleges Trump supports gathered outside Mar-a-Lago after the news of Trump’s indictment broke earlier this week. The post shares an image in which a small group of alleged protesters are holding “Trump” flags and banners.

“LMFAO, there were ONES of people who showed up to protest in support of trump today,” the caption reads. “ONES OF THEM!!!”

The caption is inaccurate. The image dates back to 2022, which was first shared by local news outlet WPBF 25. Supporters gathered outside the residence after the location was raided by the FBI in the confiscation of the classified documents that were allegedly being housed there, the outlet reported. There is no credible news report that suggests this image was related to the recent news of Trump indictment by Bragg, for the alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

There have been several demonstrations at Mar-a-Lago throughout the week. Protesters came waving at Trump’s caravan as he drove to the airport for his flight to New York, as seen in video from Fox.

This is not the first time misinformation related to Trump’s has spread online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that Trump had a child out of wedlock.
