Bud Light’s partnership with Mulvaney has prompted social media backlash from conservatives, CBS News reported.

The Twitter post purports Anheuser-Busch’s CEO resigned over plummeting sales of Bud Light. The post names Augustus Anheuser III as the company’s CEO and claims he resigned following pushback over a recent campaign.

The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting Anheuser-Busch’s CEO resigned over plummeting sales of Bud Light. Likewise, the claim neither appears on the brewing company’s website nor its verified social media accounts. In addition, the purported claim is not mentioned on Bud Light’s verified Twitter account.

The claim originally stems from an article published on the website “The Dunning-Kruger Times.” The site is “a subsidiary of the ‘America’s Last Line of Defense’ network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery,” according to its “About Us” page. Furthermore, Brendan Whitworth is listed as the brewing company’s U.S. CEO, according to its “Leadership” page. A reverse image search also indicates a photo included with the satirical article shows former Penn State University assistant football coach and convicted child abuser Jerry Sandusky.
