A video shared on social media purportedly shows a recent testimony from Dr. Anthony Fauci during a Senate Hearing related to recent information revealed about him.

Verdict: Misleading

This caption is inaccurate. This video is not recent.

Fact Check:

Fauci expressed concern about the country during this next election cycle at an appearance at The Hill’s Future of Health Care Summit on Thursday, The Hill reported. The former chief medical advisor worried about the “normalization of untruths” amid the election.

The Facebook post claims Fauci was called before Congress in regard to a recent information that was exposed about him. The video shows Fauci being questioned.

“Fauci gets confronted on what was exposed about him last night……. gets very nervous,” the caption reads.

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this video is recent or related to recent developments. This video stems from a Senate Hearing from 2022 in which Fauci and the director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Rochelle Walensky testified on the COVID-19 Omicron variant. (RELATED: Does Viral Video Show The Nova Kakhovka Dam Being Blown Up?)

During the hearing, Fauci was questioned about his possible involvement in the funding of gain of function research. Fauci denied the claims and referred to a Project Veritas story that alleged he was involved.

This is not the first time a misinformation about a politician has been shared online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a post purporting that Donald Trump claimed he pardoned himself in a recent post.
