FACT CHECK: Did Joe Biden And Barack Obama Wear Pink Suits To Promote The Barbie Movie?

Anna Mock | Fact Check Reporter

An image shared on Twitter alleges President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama wore pink suits to promote the new Barbie movie.

Verdict: False

This image is digitally fabricated. There is no evidence Biden and Obama did this promotion.

Fact Check:

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz’s wife has called for a boycott of the Barbie movie, stating that it has a lack of “family or faith” values and “disappointingly low T (testosterone) from Ken,” according to The Independent. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also given criticism of the film, tweeting, “If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchy’, you will pass out before the movie ends,” New York Post reports.

A Twitter post purports Biden and Obama wore pink suits to promote the movie “Barbie.” The image appears to show the current and former president walking together, wearing bright pink suits with a Barbie logo in the top right corner.

“Barack and Joe trolling Republicans — love it!!” the tweet reads.

The image is digitally fabricated, however. Check Your Fact found no credible news reports about the alleged promotion. The image was most likely created with AI. In the photo, both Biden’s and Obama’s skin looks like plastic and they are both oversaturated.   (RELATED: Does This Image Show Mattel’s Latest Barbie Wearing A Hijab?)

The president would not be permitted to endorse a movie, according to the Code of Federal Regulations § 2635.702, which states, “An employee of public office must not use or permit the use of his government position or title or any authority associated with his public office to endorse any product, service or enterprise.”
