FACT CHECK: Does Image Show LeBron James Wearing Pink To Go See The ‘Barbie’ Movie?

A photo shared on Facebook allegedly shows LeBron James wearing pink clothing prior to going to watch the “Barbie” movie.

Verdict: False

The image is digitally fabricated. It was originally posted to Twitter by an account that identifies itself as satirical.

Fact Check:

James’ eldest son, Bronny James, suffered a cardiac arrest while practicing with the University of Southern California’s basketball team on Monday, according to NPR. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles released a statement on Thursday stating that Bronny James has been discharged from the hospital and is resting at home, USA Today reported.

The Facebook post purports James wore all pink in honor of the “Barbie” movie. The alleged photo appears to show the basketball player wearing a completely pink ensemble, including a skirt, purse and shoes.

“Lebron James is ready to go see ‘Barbie,'” the caption reads once translated from Spanish. “THE KING.”

The photo is digitally fabricated, however. The image appears to stem from a satirical Twitter account called “Buttcrack Sports.” The account’s bio reads, in part, “Featured on PBS Kids + The Onion • Nothing Tweeted Should Be Taken As Fact • Satire • Unfollow if You’re Soft.” The same account posted another image alleging to show James dressed in pink for the movie.

The account tweeted that the image was taken by Twitter user @jeazous. This user’s profile includes a link to his Medium profile, which includes an article stating the image of James was digitally fabricated.
