FACT CHECK: Did Marjorie Taylor Greene Call For Civil War?

A post shared on social media purportedly shows a screenshot of Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Twitter post.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. The post is a fabrication.

Fact Check:

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has announced that he is considering an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, ABC News reported. McCarthy suggested that there is evidence of corrupt business dealings that Biden has used to enrich himself.

The Twitter post purports Greene called for another Civil War in a tweet. The post claims to show a screenshot of the alleged tweet with not timestamp or share options.

“We don’t need WWIII, what we need is Civil War II,” the alleged post reads.

The caption responds to this post saying, “We’ll beat your kind again, Marge. And this time we won’t pardon any of you traitors.”

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that this tweet is accurate. The tweet does not appear on her verified account. Likewise, there is no record of this tweet on the deleted tweet tracker, PolitiTweet.

Greene has called for secession before claiming that the country needs a “national divorce.” However, she did not call for civil war. NBC News reported Greene tweeted, “‘We need a national divorce. We need to separate red states and blue states and shrink the federal government.'” (RELATED: Did RFK Jr. Meet With Then-President Trump To Lead A Vaccine Safety Commission?)

This is not the first time a misinformation has been shared online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that Mel Gibson requested protection from Hollywood elites.
