Verdict: False

The video is digitally altered. The clip displays the handle of a user whose bio says he creates satirical content.

Fact Check:

Taking aim at the GOP frontrunners for the 2024 election, Hurd said voters want a candidate who is “who’s not a jerk, who’s not a racist, who’s not a misogynist,” The Hill reported. Hurd is confident he’ll make it to the first Republican presidential nomination debate stage on August 23, according to Fox News.

An Instagram video appears to show Hurd being interrupted while speaking on “The View.” The video shows a phone-recorded clip of the show in which a man interrupts Hurd after his statement about Trump. Host Whoopi Goldberg and Hurd himself looked shocked before cutting to a “signal lost” screen.

“Donald Trump is a threat to our national security,” Hurd says in the video. “Oh, brother, please,” says a man who appears to be sitting next to him. “We all know that the country and the world was more secure under Trump so please just shut the hell up with the talking point for dummies.”

The video is digitally altered, however. The original video can be found on “The View’s” YouTube. The segment used in the Instagram post can be found at the timestamp 3:49. The man shown interrupting Hurd does not appear in the video at all. Instead of being interrupted, he is applauded and continues to speak about Trump.

A user named Damon Imani originally posted the video to a social platform called Rumble. His handle can be seen in the top left corner of the Instagram video. On his website, Imani identifies himself as someone who is “known for his satirical approach.” Imani also made a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, saying that the video was satire.
