FACT CHECK: Video Of Children Disappearing From School Bus Is A ‘Rapture Pre-Enactment’

A video shared on Facebook allegedly shows children suddenly disappearing from within a school bus.

Verdict: Misleading

This video is missing context. It shows an enactment from a Christian organization depicting what a rapture might look like.

Fact Check:

A 17-year-old high school student was fatally struck by a school bus in Florida while riding a bicycle near the school entrance, according to Fox News. Video showed that the 78-year-old driver, who was uninjured, had crashed through a fence, local outlet WFLA-TV reported.

A Facebook video appears to show footage from inside a school bus full of children. As the bus driver is driving, the kids appear to disappear into thin air. A man speaking over the video says, “It’s like they drove through a portal.”

“Where the hell did the children go,” reads text overlaid on the video. “How the F*** do you explain this !”

This video is missing context, however. It stems from a website called Perhaps Today, which shows “rapture pre-enactments.” The site’s “about” page explains that the videos are meant to depict what the rapture might look like. The video’s original caption reads, “A careful bus driver is in the midst of his school day routine. And then, it happens! In this dramatic pre-enactment you’ll discover what the Rapture, the next event on God’s prophetic calendar might look like.”

These videos are created by a Christian organization called Turning Point for God founded by pastor David Jeremiah. (RELATED: Did The Zimbabwean President Drive A Bus To Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral)
