FACT CHECK: Video Of Lindsey Graham Discussing Cross-Dressing Is Digitally Fabricated

A video shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, purportedly shows South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham discussing his alleged cross-dressing.

Verdict: False

The video is digitally altered. The original video does not show Graham saying this.

Fact Check:

Graham called the New York fraud case against former President Donald Trump a “friggin joke,” and said that it was politically motivated, according to The Hill. Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity that he’s “never seen hatred toward a political figure, like I see against President Trump,” Washington Times reported.

An X video appears to show Graham talking about cross-dressing. The alleged video features the logo and a chyron for “Face the Nation.”

“We had to keep the government open,” he appears to say in the video. “We got 45 days to fix both problems. Listen, people call me Lady G just because I like to cross-dress. Maybe I put on some lipstick, some heels and tuck my testicles back using Gorilla Tape. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love this country.”

The post’s caption reads, “People missed the most important part of the Lindsey Graham interview.”

This video has been edited, however. It was taken from an Oct. 1 interview Graham did with CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” The first part of the clip in which Graham says, “We had to keep the government open. We got 45 days to fix both problems,” is genuine, according to the video’s transcript. Graham discusses cross-dressing at no point in the interview, however.

In a reply to a comment on the post, the account confirmed that the video was fabricated. The account’s bio indicates that it posts doctored videos. (RELATED: Did Lindsey Graham Endorse Mike Pence As The 2024 Presidential Republican Nominee?)
