A video shared on social media purportedly shows an Israeli missile attack on a building in Gaza.

Verdict: False

The caption is misleading. The video is of Palestinian children in a refugee camp in Syria.

Fact Check:

The U.S State Department announced that they will evacuate Americans from Israel. CBS News reports that this evacuation comes after at least 27 Americans were killed during the Hamas invasion of Israel.

The Twitter post shows children talking about their desires for the future. The caption reads, “this is an old video of palestinian children talking about their dreams (before this war) you’re racist and hypocrite if you don’t stand with these innocent people.”

This post is misleading. This video was not filmed in Palestine. The video dates back 2013 from within the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus. The video was Uploaded to YouTube in 2022. The video’s title claimed to be of children in the Yarmouk camp of Syria. The clips are part of a documentary about the camp called “little Palestine (Diary of a Siege)”.

Yarmouk was a vibrant and prosperous district for Palestinian refugees. However, the camp was devastated during the Syrian civil war 2015, according to The Guardian. (RELATED: No, Video Does Not Show Hamas Faking The Death Of A Palestinian Child)

This is not the first piece of misinformation surrounding the Israeli-Hamas conflict that has been shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim that an Israeli woman was released from Gaza.
