FACT CHECK: Video Of Joe Biden Calling For Draft Is AI-Generated

Anna Mock | Fact Check Reporter

A video shared on Facebook allegedly shows President Joe Biden discussing instating a draft.

Verdict: False

The video was originally posted by The Post Millennial, its description indicating that it was created with artificial intelligence (AI).

Fact Check:

Biden has requested over $105 billion from Congress to support security needs of Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and the U.S. southern border, according to CNBC. He recently visited Israel to support the country during its conflict with Hamas, emphasizing that Israelis should not be “consumed” with rage, AP News reported.

The Facebook video appears to show Biden mid-sentence, saying, “invoke the Selective Service Act, as is my authority as president.” He continues, “Remember, you’re not sending your sons and daughters to war. You’re sending them to freedom.” Text overlaid on the video reads, “NO WAY The draft.”

This is not genuine footage of Biden, however. The video was originally posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, by The Post Millennial. Its caption reads, “AI imagines what would happen if Biden declares and activates the Selective Service Act and begins drafting 20 years old to war.”

There are no credible news reports about Biden calling for a draft. Furthermore, the last time a draft was in place was 1973, according to the Selective Service System website. (RELATED: Did Joe Biden Declare A Federal Emergency In October 2023?)
