A post shared on Facebook purports to show a TRUTH Social statement from former President Donald Trump saying he “will not be silenced” following a recent gag order from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan.

Verdict: False

The statement does not appear on Trump’s TRUTH Social profile, and there is no evidence he made the purported remark.

Fact Check:

Chutkan temporarily lifted her partial gag order, which limited what Trump could publicly say about his case involving the 2020 election, on Oct. 20, according to Reuters. In the past, Trump referred to prosecutor Special Counsel Jack Smith as a “deranged lunatic,” the outlet reported.

“DO YOU THINK | WILL BE GAGGED? YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT? HELL, NO I WILL NOT BE SILENCED CORRUPT AND EVIL BIDEN JUDGE CHUTNEY HAS DARED TO PUT HERSELF ABOVE THE FIRST AMENDMENT! I THOUGH THIS WAS AMERICA BUT APPARENTLY D.C. IS NOTHING BUT A BANANNA [sic] REPUBLIC WHERE THE MONKEYS ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM NOW, BUT FEAR NOT. THEY CANNOT SILENCE TRUMP!” the purported statement begins.

“THEY WILL NOT SILENCE TRUMP BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT WE HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN JUST THE FIRST AMENDMENT WE CAN USE TO MAKE SURE THEY DON’T TAKE THEM FROM US!! TRUMP 2024!!” the alleged statement continues.

The claim is false, however. The purported statement attributed to Trump neither appears on his TRUTH Social profile nor his official website. Likewise, there are no credible news reports suggesting the former Republican President made the supposed remark.

Furthermore, the statement incorrectly refers to Chutkan as “Judge Chutney” and contains a misspelling, which immediately draws its authenticity into question.

Although Trump did not publish the statement shared via the Facebook post, he did respond to Chutkan’s decision to issue a gag order, calling it “totally unconstitutional.” (RELATED: No Donald Trump’s Plane Has Not Been Confiscated By A Bank)

“The TRUMP GAG ORDER that the CORRUPT Biden Administration is trying to obtain is totally Unconstitutional!” Trump wrote in an Oct. 16 TRUTH Social post.
