A claim shared on social media purports Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a disparaging comment about Taylor Swift.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. The claim stems from a satirical website.

Fact Check:

The success of Swift’s Eras Tour has launched the pop star into billionaire status, Bloomberg News reported. The movie version of the concert was released recently and took the top spot at the box office and is now the highest grossing domestic concert film ever, according to CNBC News.

The Twitter post claims that Musk commented on Swift’s presence at recent NFL games. The post shares a photo of Swift in the stands of a game with a friend.

The caption reads, “Why does Elon dislike Taylor so much? Fact Check: Elon Musk Tweeted, “I’d Rather Break My Leg Than See Taylor Swift During an NFL Game”?

The quote is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this claim is authentic. The claim stems from a satirical website called, SpaceXMania. The website shares a disclaimer in the “about section” of the website that reads, “Please note that the articles under the category  ‘SATIRE’ are satirical in nature and are not meant to be taken seriously.”

There are no such claims found on Musk Twitter account. Likewise, there is no such claim on the deleted tweet tracker, PolitiTweet(RELATED: Does Video Show Recent Arrests Of Pro-Palestine Jews In Israel?)

This is not the first piece of misinformation that has been shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim that student protesters at the University of Pennsylvania chanted “we want Jewish genocide.”
