A post shared on Facebook claims the U.S. Navy has arrested New York Attorney General Letitia James for treason.

Verdict: False

The claim originates from a self-described satirical website.

Fact Check:

Former President Donald Trump is facing a $250 million civil fraud trial as James accuses Trump of “falsely inflating the values of his assets for financial perks,” according to CNBC. Trump has accused James of being “corrupt,” “racist” and complicit in “prosecutorial misconduct,” The Hill reports.

A Facebook post claims James has been arrested by the Navy.

“United States Navy JAG investigators on Tuesday arrested New York Attorney General Letitia James of treason and other high crimes and misdemeanors following an investigation that began shortly after she and her criminal associates filed a frivolous lawsuit against the Trump Organization, a JAG source told Real Raw News,” the post reads in part.

The claim originates from a satirical website, however. It was originally posted by Real Raw News. “This website contains humor, parody, and satire,” the site’s “About Us” page reads. Check Your Fact has debunked Real Raw News several previous times

There are no credible news reports about James being arrested. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Call Letitia James An ‘Animal?’)

Check Your Fact reached out to a spokespeople for James and the Navy for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received from either source.

This is not the first time misinformation involving James has spread online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim that Trump called her “an animal” on his Truth Social account.
