FACT CHECK: No, Hillary Clinton Did Not Refer To Climate Change As Her ‘Hitman’

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, allegedly shows former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton referring to climate change as her “hitman.”

Verdict: False

This video was created with artificial intelligence (AI). The video was originally posted by an account that posts doctored videos.

Fact Check:

Clinton recently voiced concern over the lack of women present at the COP28 climate summit, according to The Hill. She also said the “tide has been turned” against women’s voices in recent years, The Independent reported.

An X video allegedly shows Clinton speaking into a microphone, referring to climate change as her “hitman.” The phrase “United Nations Climate Change” can be seen in the background.

“We’re seeing and beginning to pay attention and to count and record the deaths that are related to climate, as I call my hitman,” she appears to saw. “Yes, if you try to out me or my associates with any pertinent information to the authorities, I will send in my boy climate change to snuff out your voice. You fuck with me or Bill and try to link us to Epstein or anyone else we’ve been involved with, and we’ll climate change yo’ ass, bitch!”

“OMG … did Hillary Clinton really say that?” the caption reads.

This is not a genuine video of Clinton, however. The original video stems from a speech Clinton gave at COP28, which can be found on YouTube. It does not show her making the hitman comments. (RELATED: Did ABC 7 Report Hillary Clinton Is Dead?)

The original account that posted the video has “doctored videos” in its bio. Check Your Fact has debunked this account a several times previously.

Check Your Fact has reached out to a Clinton spokesperson for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
