A post shared on X allegedly shows an X post authored by Tesla CEO Elon Musk saying that “weird” is being used as a slur against supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Verdict: False

This image was digitally fabricated. There is no evidence Musk said this.

Fact Check:

Musk questioned the validity of Venezuela’s election that resulted in the victory of President Nicolás Maduro, to which he responded to by challenging Musk to a fight on live television, according to New York Post. Musk accepted the challenge in a post on X, the outlet reported.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purports Musk said “weird” is being used as a slur. The post shared an image allegedly showing a July 30 post from Musk claiming the word “weird” is being used as a slur against Trump supporters and threatening to punish X users who use the word as such.

“‘Weird is being used as a slur against Trump supporters, and it will not be tolerated on this platform,” the alleged post reads. “Trump supporters should not have to face ridicule for their beliefs. Any harassment of Trump supporters using the term ‘Weird’ will be punished.”

This post has been digitally fabricated, however. It does not appear through searching Musk’s X account. Additionally, Musk’s genuine account has an “X” logo next to his name, which is not present in the screenshot.

The image was also posted by an account called @theliamnissan, where it garnered over 40,000 likes. The account’s bio indicates that it is parody. (RELATED: Did Elon Musk Wear A Hat That Says ‘Make Apartheid Great Again?)
