Fact Check:
A Democratic strategist cautioned those celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris’ slight lead over former President Donald Trump in some national polls, saying that Trump would possibly win the election if it was held today, according to The Hill. David Axelrod said the presidency is an “Electoral College fight” as several swing states are likely to determine the outcome of the race, the outlet reported.
A Threads image appears to show a semi truck that has crashed into a bridge with a low clearance. The body of the truck is white with blue text that appears to say “all aboard the Trump train.”
The post’s caption reads, “It’s a metaphor.”
This image has been digitally altered, however. The original photo of the truck was published by New York outlet theLoop in May 2015. The text on the side of the vehicle does not show a message involving Trump, but instead reads, “On the road to success, there are no shortcuts.” The incident occurred in Mamaroneck, New York, where police record about a dozen incidents a year of trucks wedging themselves under this bridge, the outlet reported. Trump’s campaign is currently focused on “battleground states,” while the former president himself has come after Harris’ life, identity and alleged campaign tactics, according to AP News. His running mate, J.D. Vance, suggested that Harris’ momentum is not an issue, CNN reported.
