Fact Check:

A post shared on X claims to depict former President George W. Bush flying over what was left of the World Trade Center on 9/11. The caption reads, “Bush’s reaction to flying over the World Trade Center on 9/11.”

The claim is false. According to the University of Virginia Miller Center, Bush was not in New York the day of the attacks. Rather, he was in Florida at an elementary school before being evacuated Louisiana and then to a secure bunker in Nebraska. Check Your Fact conducted a reverse image search and found a similar image dated 09/14/2001.

The original photo’s photographer, Eric Draper, uploaded the photo to his website with a description that reads, “With smoke still billowing from the World Trade Center disaster site out the window, President George W. Bush departs New York City en route to Washington, D.C. aboard Marine One on Sept. 14, 2001.”

When asked for comment, Draper told Check Your Fact, “This photo was taken on Sept. 14, 2001, when President Bush departed New York City after spending the afternoon at ground zero.”

President Bush was wearing the same outfit from the uploaded photo when he gave his famous ‘Bullhorn Address’ to Ground Zero rescue workers. The ‘Bullhorn Address’ is dated 09/14/2001. (RELATED: Joe Biden Falsely Claims That He Was At Ground Zero The Day After 9/11).

Website ‘Snopes’ has also debunked this claim.
