An image shared on X allegedly shows “what’s left” of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s ring after he was killed in an Israeli air strike.

Verdict: False

The photo is miscaptioned. The image was shared online long before Nasrallah’s death.

Fact Check:

Nasrallah is buried in an undisclosed location until a proper funeral can be held for the late Hezbollah leader without fear of an Israeli strike on the event, according to the Times of Israel. Nasrallah, 64-years-old was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Haret Hreik suburb that also destroyed several tall buildings, AP News reported.

An X photo allegedly shows the remains of Nasrallah’s ring following his death. It appears to show a hand covered in dirt holding a broken ring along with what seems to be another piece of damaged jewelry and a small, ruined piece of paper.

“This is what’s left of Nasrallah’s ring,” the caption reads. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Iranians Celebrating Nasrallah’s Death)

This image is miscaptioned, however. It was shared to X in January, and its caption, after being translated from Arabic, indicated that the image shows “what remains” of Abu Taqwa. He was killed in a self-defense strike in January after he planned and carried out attacks against American personnel, according to a press release from the Department of DefenseNasrallah wasn’t killed until several months after, on Sept. 27 in Beirut, Lebanon, according to CBS News
