Harris has accepted an interview with Fox News, which will be 30 minutes with Bret Baier, The New York Times. This will be Harris’s first interview with Fox and will be held in Philadelphia.
A post shared on Facebook purports Harris’s only visit to the border was recently, during her campaign for the 2024 election. The post shared a photo of Harris speaking behind a podium with the American flag behind her.
The caption reads, “Today is the 1,346th day of the Biden/Harris Administration. Kamala Harris is visiting the Southern Border for the first time today. Do they think we are stupid? They caused it. They could have fixed it. They didn’t. End of story.”
The claim is inaccurate. Harris’ first trip to the border as vice president was in 2021, according to CNN. During the Biden administration, Harris did face criticism for not visiting the border, NPR reported. The criticism came after she visited Mexico and Guatemala to address “the root causes of migration,” according to the outlet. She also told reporters “Listen, I’ve been to the border before. I will go again.”
Harris vowed to continue the Biden asylum policies in place if she is elected during her more recent visit to the border, CBS News reported. Harris’ promises also included more resources for the governing bodies to deal with immigration and harsher punishments for repeat offenders.
