FACT CHECK: TRUTH Social Post Taking Aim At Obama Is Satire

An image shared on Facebook purports to show a TRUTH Social post from 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump taking aim at former Democratic President Barack Obama.

Verdict: False

The claim is false and originally stems from @AgentSelf99B, an account on X, formerly Twitter, that is known for posting parody content.

Fact Check:

A new poll from YouGov found 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump at 51% to 47% among registered voters, according to The Hill. Harris also leads among other groups, including college graduates and women, the outlet reported.

The Facebook image purports to show a TRUTH Social post from Trump taking aim at Obama.

“ELECTION INTERFERENCE! TOTALLY UNFAIR THAT OBAMA CAN RUN HIS MOUTH ABOUT FORMER PRESIDENTS LIKE ME–SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!” the text of the purported TRUTH Social post from Trump reads.

“Completely insane. Not only does he trash every other president in the past, but he currently lies about the current one. I suppose he wants the law to be only himself exempt from criticism, lol,” the image’s caption reads.

The claim is false and originally stems from X, where it was shared by user @AgentSelf99B. In a reply to the original post, which has garnered over 200,000 views as of writing, the social media user admitted the post was “satire.” The social media user’s profile indicates it posts parody content.

Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find any reference to the claim on Trump’s website, his TRUTH Social profile, or his verified social media accounts. In addition, Obama does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim.

Furthermore, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Oct.  16, Reuters debunked the claim, indicating it was satirical. (RELATED: No, Donald Trump Did Not Make A Truth Social Post Saying He Hopes ‘America Obliterates Israel’)

While campaigning for Harris recently in Pittsburgh, Obama criticized Trump, saying the 2024 Republican nominee and Former President doesn’t represent “real strength,” according to NBC News.
