Verdict: False

The video shows a man trying to escape a fire in Mexico City.

Fact Check:

An autopsy report indicates that Payne died due to hemorrhages caused by the fall, according to Fox News. The investigation is ongoing, but it appears that Payne was alone in his hotel room when the incident occurred with several substances.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, allegedly shows Payne the moment he died. The post included a video of a man jumping out of a window and a photo of Payne performing.

The post reads, “Heartbreaking News: We are deeply saddened to learn that Liam Payne, 31, has tragically died following a balcony fall in Argentina. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his loved ones and fans.”

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that this video shows Payne. The video dates back to 2023. Payne died recently in Argentina when he fell from his third story balcony, Good Morning America reported.  (RELATED: Does This Video Show Liam Payne The Night Before He Died?)

Local news reports covered the incident at the time. A translation of the report explains that the video was taken in Mexico City when a fire broke out in the building. The fire occurred in a third-floor apartment and the man was seen making a daring escape from the flames.

This is not the first time misinformation has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that Sean “Diddy” Combs released a video from prison.
