A post shared on X claims that The Atlantic published an article titled “Trump is Literally Hitler.”

Verdict: False
There is no evidence that this article ever existed. The Atlantic has confirmed that the image is fabricated.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that The Atlantic published an article titled “Trump is Literally Hitler.” One user wrote,”Completely insane story in The Atlantic today.”

This claim is false. There is no evidence that The Atlantic ever published an article with this title. A search of The Atlantic’s website also did not yield any results for any alleged article. (RELATED: Did The Atlantic Publish An Article Calling For Kamala Harris To Steal The Election?)

A spokesperson for the Atlantic told Check Your Fact that the post “is a fabricated headline/article.” In a separate post made on X, the owner of the X account that made the claim confirmed it was fabricated. The caption states, “It’s satire, but The Atlantic can only be lampooned this way because they are deranged.”

The fabricated article appears to be an altered version of an article that The Atlantic published titled “Trump: ‘I Need The Kind of Generals That Hitler Had.'” The article appears with the same timestamp and author as the fabricated article and can be found on The Atlantic’s website.
