Verdict: False

DreamWorks Animation still has an active account on X. The claim appears to have originated as satire.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that Elon Musk banned DreamWorks Animation from having an X account. The caption reads, “Elon Musk Bans DreamWorks Animation from X: “Don’t Want That Woke Pride On My Platform.”

The claim is false. DreamWorks Animation still has an active account on X. The DreamWorks Animation official page made a post on X on October 25th—which is three days after the claim was made on Threads. (RELATED: Viral Facebook Post Makes False Claim About Elon Musk, ABC, ‘Wokeness’)

The claim appears to have originated as satire. An online story titled “Elon Musk Bans DreamWorks Animation from X, “Don’t Want That Woke Pride On My Platform” contains a disclaimer that reads, “NOTE: This is SATIRE, it’s not true.” The website has also categorized the story as satire.

The satire reads, “In his latest and most controversial move, Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has permanently banned DreamWorks Animation from the platform, citing the studio’s recent support of LGBTQ+ Pride as “too woke,” and, “Musk, who has long positioned himself as a crusader against what he calls “woke culture,” took to X to explain his decision.”

Musk’s X account does not contain a post regarding this claim. Check Your Fact has reached out to X and DreamWorks Animation LLC for comment.
