FACT CHECK: Did Land O’Lakes Return To Its Old Logo?

A post shared on Facebook claims Land O’Lakes is returning to its old logo depicting an indigenous woman.  

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. It was originally posted by a satirical Facebook account.

Fact Check: 

Dieticians have raised concerns about chemicals found in oat milk as one of them has been linked to certain blood cancers, according to Daily Mail. The World Health Organization has said the chemical, found in every product tested by the Environmental Working Group, is “probably carcinogenic,” but U.S. health officials don’t agree, the outlet reported.

The post shared on Facebook claims Land O’Lakes is returning their butter packaging to the old imagery which depicts an indigenous woman. The image shows someone holding a product with the old Land O’Lakes packaging.

“Land O Lakes has announced the return of the iconic s***w to its packaging! ‘Our customers made it clear that they respect tradition more than wokeness,” the text reads. Additional text above this reads, “Looks like Land O Lakes took a much bigger hit then (sic) they even thought. #GoWokeGoBroke.”

This claim is inaccurate, however. There are no press releases on the company’s page to indicate that this change is happening. Likewise, there are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim. (RELATED: No, Aunt Jemima Will Not Return To Syrup Bottles In 2025)

The claim originates from a satirical Facebook post. This account’s bio reads, “A subsidiary of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of trollery. Nothing on this page is real.”

The company unveiled the new design in a February 2020 press release, which shows the trees and lake appearing in the original design but without the woman.
