A post shared on X claims that 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump released a video statement that claims President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris killed Peanut the squirrel.

Verdict: False

The State of New York euthanized Peanut, not the Biden administration. The owner of the X account later verified that the video is AI-generated.

Fact Check:

Social media sensation Peanut the squirrel was euthanized due to rabies concerns on October 30th. Peanut’s compatriot, Fred the Raccoon, was also euthanized.

Social media users are claiming that Trump released a video statement that claims Biden and Harris killed Peanut the squirrel. One user wrote, “OMG Trump put out video of Biden and Harris admin killing Peanut the squirrel.”

The claim is false. There is no evidence of Trump releasing an official video statement on Peanut the squirrel. (RELATED: Video Of Trump Eating Fries At McDonald’s Is AI-Generated)

In a separate post, the owner of the X account that uploaded the video verified that the video is AI-generated. The caption reads, “It’s total AI video libs we get it!! The guy that made says right in the video. Maybe NY shouldn’t of killed poor Peanut and Fred and you wouldn’t feel the need to cope.”

Comedian Danny Polishchuk originally uploaded the video to X. Polishchuk also uploaded the video to YouTube with a description that reads, “This is parody!”

The post claims that Biden and Harris are responsible for Peanut’s death. This claim is also false. The State of New York made the decision to euthanize Peanut and Fred, not the Biden administration.
