FACT CHECK: No, Donald Trump Did Not Select Hulk Hogan As Labor Secretary
A post shared on Facebook claims President-elect Donald Trump appointed former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan as labor secretary.
Verdict: False
Trump announced Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, not Hogan, as his choice.
Fact Check:
Following President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son, Hunter, Trump has hinted that he may be granting clemency to instigators of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, according to The Guardian. Trump wrote on his Truth Social that the pardon was “Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice,” the outlet reported.
A post shared on Facebook claims Trump named Hogan his labor secretary. The post shows an image of Hogan ripping his shirt off to reveal a Trump shirt underneath.
“BREAKING: Donald Trump picks ex-wrestler Hulk Hogan for Secretary of Labor and you are about to google to see if that’s true,” the caption reads.
This claim is inaccurate, however. Trump chose Republican Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer for labor secretary, according to news reports from multiple credible outlets such as CNN, Vox and New York Post. There are no credible news reports to suggest Hogan was chosen instead. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Lose The Popular Vote By Two Percent In The 2024 Election?)
Furthermore, the Facebook screenshot shows a post from Jason Selvig, who identifies himself as a comedian in his Instagram bio.
The image seen in the post was taken when Hogan delivered remarks at the 2024 Republican National Convention, according to NPR. Hogan endorsed Trump during the speech, saying “America is gonna be great again,” according to Fox News.
