An image shared on Facebook purports to show country singer Carrie Underwood wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit.

Verdict: False

The claim is false. The social media user who originally shared the image on X admitted it was satire.

Fact Check:

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg defended Underwood’s slated inauguration performance, according to The Hill. Goldberg said, “If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform someplace, I believe they have the same right,” the outlet reported.

The Facebook image purports to show Underwood in a Ku Klux Klan outfit.

“Carrie Underwood having a few last minute alterations done on the dress she’ll be wearing when she sings at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration,” the image’s caption reads. In the image, Underwood appears to be wearing a long white robe with a hood. Besides Facebook, the image circulated on other social media platforms, including Threads.

The claim is false. The image was originally shared on X on Jan. 13 by user @PaulleyTicks. In a subsequent post, the same social media user admitted the image was “political satire/parody and it is not real.” The original image has garnered over 900,000 views as of writing.

Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find the image referenced on Underwood’s official website or her verified social media accounts. Trump has not publicly commented on the image, either. (RELATED: Yes, Trump’s Ear Was Struck By A Bullet)

In addition, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to suggest Underwood wore a Ku Klux Klan outfit. Actually, the opposite is true. On Jan. 16, Snopes debunked the claim, tracing the image’s origin to the same satire post on X.

Underwood is among the performers slated to sing at Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, according to Forbes. She will perform “America the Beautiful” before Trump takes the oath of office, the outlet reported.

Check Your Fact has contacted Underwood’s agent for comment.
