FACT CHECK: No, Calvin Robinson Is Not Part Of The Catholic Church

A post shared on X claims Calvin Robinson was part of the Catholic Church before losing his ministry license.

Verdict: Misleading

Robinson was part of the Anglican Catholic Church. He is not Catholic.

Fact Check:

Robinson, a British national, lost his ministry license after he mimicked billionaire Elon Musk’s salute during a pro-life summit, according to The Hill.

Social media users are claiming that Robinson was part of the Catholic Church. One user wrote, “Calvin Robinson just had his Ministry license revoked by the Catholic Church because of this video. I am Catholic. I stand with Calvin Robinson. And I think Jesus would find this funny.”

This claim is misleading. Robinson was part of the Anglican Catholic Church (ACC), acting as a parish priest for an ACC parish in Michigan, according to Michigan Live. He was not a Catholic priest. (RELATED: No, Trump Didn’t Sign An Executive Order Establishing A Bitcoin Reserve)

The ACC stated in a Feb. 3 statement that they stood by its initial statement and noted that Robinson had been part of the Nordic Catholic Church, the Free Church of England and the Church of England in the past.

The ACC stands by its original statement. The sort of conduct Robinson displayed at the National Right to Life Summit is harmful, divisive, and contrary to the tenets of Christian charity. Priests are certainly called to support the Church’s teaching on the sanctity of life and on a range of other doctrinal issues; but they are not called to provoke, to troll, or to behave uncharitably, even to their foes. This is not ‘woke’ doctrine; it is basic Christian teaching and consistent with the expectations the ACC has of its priests,” the ACC stated.
