An image shared on Facebook claims Malia Obama, the daughter of former President Barack Obama, was recently arrested.

The Nov. 25 Facebook post shows a screen grab of an article titled “Malia Obama Arrested Again, Complete Media Blackout.”

“The Obama family is royalty as far as the liberal media is concerned,” reads the screen grabbed article. “Not only did they not mention Malia Obama’s arrest in 2016 for providing her little sister’s Girl Scout troop with ‘enough whip-its to drop a team of well-kept alpacas,’, but they failed to report Malia Obama’s bloogie arrest a month ago as well.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation didn’t find any news reports about Malia Obama being arrested. While the screen grabbed article alleges news outlets didn’t cover the story because of a “complete media blackout,” that is not the case. It’s because the arrest described in the article never happened.

A search of the headline revealed the story originated on the website Daily World Update, a parody news website that describes itself as part of a network of “parody, satire, and tomfoolery.” The satirical article describes a fictional account of Malia Obama supposedly being “busted by campus security at Harvard as she and a friend were caught using a ‘white, powdery substance’ in the women’s shower room” and being subsequently brought to “Harvard County Jail.”

Harvard University, where Malia Obama attends college, is located in Cambridge in Massachusetts’ Middlesex County. There is no “Harvard County” in Massachusetts. (RELATED: Was Barack Obama Arrested For Espionage?)

Despite Daily World Update disclaiming “everything on this website is fiction,” numerous blogs shared the story as if it were real.
