FACT CHECK: Did Kamala Harris Resign The Vice Presidency?
A video shared on Facebook purports Vice President Kamala Harris resigned from her position following Biden’s “mandatory” border trip.
Verdict: False
The video’s caption is inaccurate. Harris did not resign from her position as vice president nor are there any reports suggesting she would do so.
Fact Check:
Harris criticized Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on a recent episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyers” after the governor sent two buses of migrants to her home, SF Gate reported. Another bus carrying 36 migrants arrived outside Harris’ Washington, D.C. home Oct. 13, Fox News reported.
The Facebook video, viewed over 9,000 times, claims Harris resigned as vice president. “Kamala Harris resigns in SH0CK after Biden’s ‘mandatοry’ border trip…Trump JAILS ‘corrupt’ VP,” the video’s caption reads.
The video’s caption is inaccurate. The claim is not mentioned on Harris or the White House’s verified social media accounts or the White House’s official website, which still lists Harris as the vice president. There are no credible news reports suggesting Harris or any other member of the Biden Administration is set to resign.
The almost 28-minute video features two unrelated clips and neither of them repeat the purported claim. (RELATED: Did Kamala Harris Wear Binoculars With Caps While Visiting The DMZ?)
In the first clip, Newsmax host Rob Schmitt discusses a host of issues, including Harris’ lack of leadership on the U.S.-Southern border and President Joe Biden during an Oct. 11 episode of his show, “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” At no point does Schmitt mention the purported claim about Harris.
In the second clip, former President Donald Trump invites a variety of Republican candidates, including U.S. Senate hopeful Adam Laxalt, to speak on stage during an October 2022 campaign rally in Minden, Nevada. Trump also does not mention the claim about Harris.
