The post appears to feature a screenshot of the app showing an option for a walking buddy, with a price at a discounted $7.50 compared to other options costing over $30. “Uber CEO: How do we turn a profit? Intern: Imagine Uber but no car…” the post caption reads.

The photo is digitally fabricated. There are no credible news reports that suggest this is true. There have been no announcements from Uber’s website or social media accounts that suggest this image is authentic. NBC News New York reported on the story, saying Uber poked fun at the idea of adding this feature to their app. The report clarified that the image was a fake, saying, “No, the ‘Walking Buddy’ option does not exist – both Uber and the owner of the viral tweet confirmed in a statement that the screenshot is a hoax.”
