Verdict: Misleading

The video is digitally altered. In the original video, Obama is heckled by an attendee while delivering remarks at the rally, but the chant is not heard.

Fact Check:

Obama campaigned for Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer at Detroit’s Renaissance High School Oct. 29, according to the Detroit Metro Times. The former president addressed political division, including a recent attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, the outlet reported.

The Instagram video appears to show Obama being heckled with “f–k Joe Biden” chants during the rally as his own supporters attempt to drown them out. “Lmao Obama is drowned out by #FJB chants in #Detroit,” the post’s caption reads.

The video is digitally altered. In the original video, Obama delivers remarks at the rally when he is heckled by an attendee. Obama tells the heckler that interrupting his speech is “not a good way to do business,” which earns him cheers from the crowd. At no point does the heckler or any of the other attendees break into an anti-Biden chant.

There are no credible news reports suggesting Obama was heckled with the obscene chant. Likewise, the former president has not publicly commented on the claim via his verified social media accounts or website.

Check Your Fact has contacted the former president via the Obama Foundation for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received. (RELATED: Did A Mobil Gas Station Put Up Signs That Say F*** Joe Biden?)

This is not the first time digitally altered media with the chant included has circulated on social media as true. Check Your Fact previously debunked a video that claimed Philadelphia Eagles fans chanted “f–k Joe Biden” during a game First Lady Jill Biden attended.
