Verdict: False
This video was posted in September, predating the 2022 midterm elections. There is no evidence such an incident of this nature occurred involving ballots.
Fact Check:
Two Arizona counties, Cochise and Mohave, announced they would delay the certification of the 2022 election results, claiming GOP voters were disenfranchised, according to The Hill. Several members of the Board of Supervisors in both counties refuted the claims, the outlet reported.
The Instagram video purportedly shows a man on an escalator with two orange trash bins as they fall over and spill paper. The post appears to claim that the video is related to the 2022 midterm elections in Arizona.
“Is this Arizona?” the caption reads. “Is this why my ballot wasn’t counted?”
This claim is incorrect. The video was originally posted to YouTube on Sep. 13, 2022, predating the midterm elections. “Man Makes a Huge Paper Mess on Escalator,” the proper title reads.
“The staff member decided to take 2 bins full of paper up an escalator instead of the lift which was only 100 metres away,” the description reads. “He lost control of the bins going up the escalator and made a big mess.” There is no indication that the video is related to the 2022 midterms.
