FACT CHECK: Did Navy JAG Corps Charge Nancy Pelosi With Treason And Seditious Conspiracy?

A post shared on Facebook purports the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps charged Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with treason and seditious conspiracy.

Verdict: False

The claim stems from a satirical website. There is no evidence suggesting Pelosi has been arrested or charged with any crime.

Fact Check:

Earlier this month, Pelosi announced she’d be stepping down as Speaker of the House after two decades in power, CNBC reported. New York Democratic Rep. and leader of the Democratic Caucus Hakeem Jeffries was elected to succeed Pelosi as the party’s next leader, according to CNN.

The Facebook post purports Navy JAG charged Pelosi with treason and seditious conspiracy. The post further claims Pelosi, allegedly intoxicated, was apprehended by the Special Forces and then flown to Guantanamo Bay following President Joe Biden’s recent state banquet.

The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting Navy JAG charged Pelosi with treason and seditious conspiracy. Likewise, Navy JAG has neither mentioned the claim via its website nor its verified social media accounts. Pelosi also has not publicly commented on the purported claim.

A keyword search reveals the claim stems from a Dec. 3 article published by the website, “Real Raw News.” A disclaimer included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates it contains “humor, parody, and satire.” (RELATED: Was Nancy Pelosi Forced To Resign In Leaked Audio?)

The latest article from “Real Raw News” appears to be a follow-up story to a Dec. 2 claim that Pelosi and other members of the alleged “Deep State,” including politicians and actors, were arrested by the U.S. Special Forces and Army Rangers following the banquet hosted by Biden.

Check Your Fact has contacted Navy JAG and Pelosi spokespersons for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
