Fact Check:

DeSantis announced he would be running for president in 2024 Wednesday via a Twitter livestream hosted by Musk, according to CNN. The event was marked by technical issues, including glitches, Reuters reported.

“Elon Musk Is A Losing Loser With A Losing Social Media Platform That’s Losing Billions!!! Now He Supports Loser ‘Meatball’ Ron!!! Sad!!!” the screenshot of the alleged TRUTH Social post shared on Twitter purports. The post has received 21,000 views at the time of publication.

The post appears to be digitally fabricated. The purported post cannot be found in the former President’s TRUTH Social feed.

Likewise, neither Musk nor DeSantis has publicly addressed the claim via their respective verified Twitter accounts. In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports indicating the former Republican President made the purported remark. Although Trump did not make the purported social media post referring to Musk and DeSantis as losers, the former President did react to the Florida Governor’s announcement that he was entering the 2024 election in a series of TRUTH Social posts.

“Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!” Trump said in one post.

“I know Ron. The way he handled his announcement, he will handle the Country!” he wrote in another.
