A photo shared on Facebook alleges California voted red during the 2020 presidential election.

The map is miscaptioned. The image shows the results of the 1984 election, not 2020. An expert confirmed the map does not show the 2020 election results in an email to Check Your Fact.

The California Reparations Task Force on June 29 will give the California Assembly its report that would give reparations to certain Black Californians with a history of slavery in their lineage, according to NBC News. A recent poll found that only 39% of California’s likely voters support a reparations task force, Politico reported.

In all the rest of California – including Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County – Trump won BIG in California!”
The Facebook post links to the tweet shown in the screenshot, which garnered over 6,800 likes.

This map does not show the 2020 election results, however. The image actually depicts a reverse of the election results from the 1984 election between Ronald Reagan and Walter Mondale, which can be seen on U.S. Election Atlas. At the time, Republicans were represented by red and Democrats were represented by blue. The poster switched the colors to show the majority of counties in red.
