FACT CHECK: Did Trump Say His Lawyers Failed To Hide His Classified Documents From The DOJ?
An image shared on social media purportedly shows a screenshot of a post on former President Donald Trump Truth Social account showing him blaming his legal team for not hiding documents.
Verdict: False
This caption is inaccurate. The post is fabricated.
Fact Check:
Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has announced that, if elected, on his first day in office he would pardon Trump for the alleged crimes related to mishandling of classified documents, CBS News reported.
The Facebook post purports that Trump posted on Truth Social that he blames his lawyers for not hiding his classified documents from the Department of Justice. The alleged post was made in all caps.
“MY OLD LEGAL TEAM OF LOSERS AND LIARS GOT ME INTO THIS,” the post reads. “THEY COULD NOT BE TRUSTED WITH MY HIDING MY DOCUMENTS AND BOXES FROM THE CORRUPT DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE! NOW MY WHOLE WEEKEND IS SHOT, AND I HAD SUCH NICE PLANS FOR MY BIRTHDAY COMING UP.”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that this post is authentic. Likewise, there is no record of the post on Trump’s verified Truth Social account.
Furthermore, there is no record of this on an archived version of his account. There is no such claim made on his campaign website. (RELATED: Does Viral Video Show The Nova Kakhovka Dam Being Blown Up?)
