The claim is inaccurate. The images are altered.

Fact Check:

Addressing NATO members, during the recent summit held in Lithuania, Macron announced that France will be sending Ukraine long range missiles to aid in their effort to push back the Russian invasion, The Guardian reported. Macron made Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a guest of honor during his two-day visit to France, according to Al Jazeera.

The Twitter post purports Obi met with Macron during a summit. The post shared photos allegedly showing the two embracing each other.

“President Peter Obi at the Global Financing Pact summit in france!” the caption reads.

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that Obi attended this event. The images are altered. The original photos can be seen in a news report that covered the event from the Nigerian Tribune. The photos show Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu meeting with Macron. Tinubu also posted the unaltered photos of himself on his verified Twitter account at the meeting with Macron.

Obi lost his presidential bid in Nigeria. Obi has challenged the results of the election claim that there was widespread voter fraud. Obi has stated he will prove election fraud, CNN reported in Mar. 2023. (RELATED: Does Viral Video Show The Nova Kakhovka Dam Being Blown Up?)

This is not the first time a misinformation has been shared online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that the judge assigned to Trump’s federal court case was at his rally.
