Fact Check:
A former Navy SEAL claiming to have killed bin Laden was arrested in Texas last week for a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury and a Class C misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, according to New York Post. He was released the same day from a jail in Frisco on a $3,500 bond, The Independent reported.
The Instagram post claims Tom Hanks will be portraying Osama bin Laden in am upcoming Netflix production. The post shared an alleged poster for the production that features Hanks with a bread and headpiece.
“The greatest manhunt in history,” the caption reads.
This is not a genuine poster, however. There are no credible news reports about such a Netflix project in the works. It can also not be found through a search of Netflix’s website.
The Instagram account that posted the image, which can be seen in the water mark Hanks’ left side, has “artist” and “All my original content” in its bio. The account’s page also shows other fabricated images involving movie or TV characters. The website’s “Terms of Service” page includes a disclaimer that reads, “We are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete or current.” (RELATED: No, Tom Hanks Is Not Playing Martin Luther King Jr. In A Netflix Production)
