A viral post shared on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, claims Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman purportedly has a body double.

Verdict: False

The claim is false. Fetterman previously denied having a body double via a video he shared on the platform in April 2023.

Fact Check:

Republicans have reportedly labeled Fetterman as a “revolting slob” over his choice of casual attire following a recent change to the Senate’s dress code, according to Newsweek. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently said the Sergeant-at-Arms will no longer enforce a dress code on the Senate floor, The Associated Press reported.

“It looks like John Fetterman no longer has tattoos on his forearms They sure are getting sloppy with these doubles,” the X post, viewed over 50,000 times, purports. The post includes a pair of side-by-side images of Fetterman. In the first, tattoos are visible on both of his arms, while in the second, no tattoos appear to be seen.

The claim that the Pennsylvania Democratic Senator has a body double is false, however. Fetterman previously denied having a body double via a video he shared on X in April 2023. In the video, Fetterman references being treated for depression and labels the body double claim as “crazy.”

“And you know, during my time during the hospital the fringy fringies really came up with a conspiracy that I have a body double. And I just want you to know that is just crazy. That is not true,” Fetterman said at the time.

Likewise, the photo in which Fetterman does not appear to have tattoos on his arms stems from a video of him reacting to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s plan to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Fetterman’s tattoos are visible on his arms in the video.
