Fact Check:
President Joe Biden visited Tel Aviv on Wednesday to show his solidarity with Israel, according to the Associated Press. Biden also secured Israeli permission to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza through Egypt.
The Twitter post shows a clip from an interview with Israeli Defense Force commander Betzalel Talijah to CNN. The short clip shows Talijah saying, “The war is not just with Hamas but with all the CIVILIANS that cannot see us as human beings that want to kill us.”
This quote is out of context. The full context of the quote shows a different view of what he was saying. Talijah explained that some Gaza civilians entered Israel to attack their citizens during the Hamas incursion. His full statement is, “The war is not just with Hamas but with all the civilians that cannot see us as human beings that want to kill us because what I saw from Gaza, civilians from Gaza, came on bicycles, to the kibbutz, just to kill and destroy.”
Betzalel Talijah, an Israeli soldier attempting to bring his 63-year-old mother to safety as the attack broke out, found her body in the street of her kibbutz during the Hamas attack.
