A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, claims to show Israel destroying a mosque.

The video has been circulating since 2016. The origins remain unknown.

Fact Check:

Social media users have been sharing a video claiming it shows Israel bombing a mosque. One user wrote, “Israel just BOMBED a MOSQUE and then started CELEBRATING!”

Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video was from 2016. The video claims it shows the Israeli Air Force bombing a mosque. (RELATED: No, This Photo Does Not Show American Soldiers Praying Before Being Deployed To Israel)

“Israel Defense Force excitingly bombing Mosque in Gaza. You can hear from their voice talking in Hebrew how proudly they are bombing mosque. There are civilians inside the mosque how could you just heartlessly destructing civilian building,” the video description reads.

Check Your Fact could not verify whether or not the video actually shows Israel destroying a mosque, though Israel has bombed mosques before. For example, it struck a mosque in the West Bank in October 2023, saying it was targeting an underground compound being used by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, according to The New York Times.
