A photo shared on X, formerly Twitter, allegedly shows actor Tom Hanks with a shirt that reads “Keep America Trumpless.”

Verdict: False

The photo has been digitally altered. The original image of Hanks shows him wearing a plain T-shirt.

Fact Check:

The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that former President Donald Trump will remain on the ballot for the 2024 presidential election, according to The Guardian. The Colorado Republican Party is appealing to a ruling made by the state’s Supreme Court that would remove Trump from Colorado’s 2024 ballot after he “engaged in insurrection,” CBS News reported.

An X post allegedly shows Hanks wearing a shirt with an anti-Trump sentiment. The photo appears to show Hanks in a black-colored T-shirt with a map of the United States with an American flag overlaid on it. The shirt’s text reads, “Keep America Trumpless.”

“WHO agrees with Tom Hanks?” the caption reads.

This is not a genuine photo of Hanks, however. The original photo was posted by the Daily Mail in 2020 and shows Hanks wearing a plain black T-shirt. It showed Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, on a walking trail together in Sydney, Australia, according to the caption.

There are no credible news reports about Hanks wearing such a shirt. (RELATED: Did Tom Hanks Wear A ’46>45′ Shirt?)

Hanks has expressed disdain for Trump in the past. In April 2016, prior to Trump’s presidency, Hanks said Trump will be president “when spaceships come down filled with dinosaurs in red capes,” and he took issue with the “Make America Great Again” slogan, according to Time.

This is not the first time a fabricated image of Hanks wearing a “Keep America Trumpless” shirt has gone viral. Check Your Fact previously debunked another image allegedly showing him wearing the message.
