A post shared on Facebook claims the Clinton Foundation has purchased Little Saint James Island to house Haitian children displayed by the unrest in their country.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. It was originally posted by a satirical X account.

Fact Check:

Dozens of people have been killed and at least 17,000 left homeless after gangs in Haiti attacked police stations and the country’s main airport on Feb. 29, according to BBC. Over 230 American citizens have been evacuated from Haiti in the past week, the outlet reported.

A Facebook post claims the Clinton Foundation has purchased Little St. James Island to provide a safe haven for Haitian children amid the unrest. The post shows a screenshot of an X post from an account called “Ministry of Truth.”

It reads, “JUST IN: Clinton Foundation purchases Little Saint James Island to house Haitian children displaced by Haiti’s unrest.”

The claim is inaccurate, however. There are no credible news reports about the Clinton Foundation purchasing the island. Additionally, the account that originally posted the claim identifies itself as satirical in its bio. Billionaire Stephen Deckoff purchased Little Saint James Island and Great Saint James Island for $60 million and is working to turn them into a resort with the intention for it to open in 2025, according to New York Post. Late financier Jeffrey Epstein allegedly held underage sex parties at these islands, the outlet reported.
