Verdict: False

The claim is false. Trump has not publicly commented on the claim and Snopes debunked the claim via an April 19 article.

Fact Check:

Trump’s estranged niece, Mary Trump, mocked her uncle after he reportedly fell asleep in court during his alleged hush money payments trial, according to Business Insider. Mary Trump said she was “worried that narcolepsy runs in the family” on SiriusXM, the outlet reported.

The Threads post, which has garnered over 1,000 likes as of writing, claims Trump purportedly “passed gas” during his recent trial focusing on alleged hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels. “Once he started snoring it wasn’t long before you heard him passing GAS very loudly…,” the post reads, attributing the quote to “dismissed juror #74.”

The claim is false, however. Snopes debunked the claim via an April 19 article. According to the outlet, the claim was referenced in a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, featuring Meidas Touch Network founder Ben Meiselas. Meiselas claimed he’d heard Trump supposedly passed gas in the courtroom but did not name his sources. The claim was also repeated by lawyer George Conway, who did not provide his source, either, the outlet indicated. Because neither Meiselas nor Conway named their sources and no major media outlets reported on the purported claim, the outlet stated the claim was “unproven.”

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. In addition, Trump has neither commented on the claim via his TRUTH Social account nor his official website. Furthermore, the claim cannot be found via Trump’s verified Facebook, X, or Instagram accounts.

Although the claim involving Trump passing gas in the courtroom is false, New York Magazine’s The Intelligencer reported the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee and former president fell asleep three times during his trial.
