Fact Check:
Jill Biden praised the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics recently, which drew criticism for what some say is its resemblance to the Last Supper, according to Fox News. The next games will be in Los Angeles in 2028 and Biden shared her worry that the U.S. will not be able to “top” the Paris games, but she also suggested that Hollywood should be able to be up to the task, according to the outlet.
An Instagram post claims to show the first lady in two places at once, showing two videos shown alongside each other. In the left video, Jill Biden is seen stepping off of a plane and waving, descending the stairs, then hugging several people. .
“Jill Biden arrives in Paris for Olympics ceremony,” reads overlaid text.
In the video on the right, Joe Biden is seen walking into frame with his wife following him and applauding.
“Two Places at Once?” reads more of the video’s text. “THEY ARE GETTING SLOPPY Jill Biden in Paris… ALONE (more than an 8 hour trip away) AND at the White House with *Joe Biden* AT THE SAME TIME.”
The post is inaccurate, however. These videos were taken at entirely different times. The video shown on the left side of the screen shows Jill Biden arriving in Paris on July 25. On the other hand, the video on the right side of the screen was posted to X by White House Jewish Liaison Shelley Greenspan the day before, July 24, at 9:17 p.m. Comparatively, Vanessa Valdivia, press secretary to the first lady, made an X post on July 25 at 5:22 a.m. EST.
