A post shared on social media purportedly shows a recent video of migrants arriving in the United Kingdom by boat.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate.

Fact Check:

British Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old with the murder of three young girls in Taylor Swift-themed dance class, The New York Times reported.  The judge named Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, born in Wales, as the suspect in an attempt to reduce misinformation, according to the outlet.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purportedly shows video of a large group of migrants arriving in the U.K. The video allegedly shows a boat full of migrants pull onto a U.K. shore as several of them jump onto the beach before more filled boats pull up behind them.

The caption reads, “Reinforcements continue to arrive in Britain.”

The claim is inaccurate. The video dates 2023 and was posted on TikTok. Ideal Adra reported this incident occurred in Spain.

Reuters reported in 2023 that there was an uptick of about 10%  in attempts to arrive in the European Union through irregular border crossings. The E.U. entered an agreement with Tunisia to attempt to cut down on sea arrivals with the Mediterranean accounting for a large portion of attempted crossings. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Block A Bill To Increase The Number Of Border Patrol Agents?)

This is not the first time misinformation involving immigration has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim a video showed British police raiding the home of an anti-immigration protester.
