The House of Representatives has passed a bill unanimously to increase security for major presidential candidates, Fox News reported. The bill passed 405 – 0 in the aftermath of Trump’s second assassination attempt, according to the outlet.
A post shared on Instagram alleges that law enforcement found a bomb at a Trump rally on Long Island. The post includes a screenshot of a video of Trump speaking at a podium and a Daily Mail logo.
The text on the screenshot reads, “BREAKING: Police found ‘explosives’ in car near former President Donald Trump’s rally site on Long Island…”
The claim is inaccurate. The Daily Mail did report about a possible explosive being found near a Trump rally shortly after Trump’s second assassination attempt. However, Nassau County Police Department later announced that those claims were unfounded.
The outlet later updated their reporting to reflect that there was no bomb detected near the rally. According to the article, a “self-trained bomb-detecting dog” may be to blame and the suspected trainer is being questioned.
