Fact Check:

A post made on Facebook claims that record labels are considering dropping Swift following her Sept. 10 endorsement of Harris. The caption reads, “Record Labels Consider Dropping Taylor Swift After Harris Endorsement: ‘We Didn’t Sign Up for Politics.”

The claim is false. There are no reputable sources that have reported on this claim. A viral post made on Facebook with the same claim has been labeled as satire.

The claim appears to have originated from a satirical story posted online. The story includes a disclaimer that states, “NOTE: This is SATIRE, it’s not true.” (RELATED: No, Taylor Swift Did Not Cancel Tour Dates Following Backlash From Endorsing Kamala Harris)

The published satire reads, “some of the music industry’s biggest record labels are reportedly reconsidering their relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift after her highly publicized endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris” and “Swift now finds herself at odds with the very corporate powers that helped build her empire. The reason? Politics, plain and simple.”

This is not the first time that false reports of backlash affecting Swift and her support for Harris have circulated online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim that Swift lost brand deals on account of her endorsement decision. Check Your Fact has reached out to Swift’s public relations team for comment.
